Food Mission
Friends, here in America we have seen food cost skyrocket and it has hit our pocketbooks very hard. We are so blessed here in the States to have programs to assist and help those in need and who suffer hunger. In our small community here we have multiple food banks and I am so thankful that the local church, the Body of Christ gives support to these food banks that those who are hungry among us can have food.
We have Kingdom family in Pakistan that do not have such programs to assist. We have connected with Faithful Gospel Ministry located in Chak 79, Sargodha, Punjab, Pakistan. This is a small community filled with christians that are suffering because of food crisis. In this small village they eat wheat in the morning and evening making bread to eat with vegetables or lentils. The christians there face many challenges but the biggest problem is the lack of availability of wheat. This has caused wheat flour prices to rise making it difficult for the poor in this community to eat. In my last conversation with Michael who runs the ministry there with his wife he shared with me:
"last year a bag of wheat flour was Rs 1150( $4.06 USD) for 15 kg(33 lbs). But sir, you know that the same 15 kg wheat flour is worth 2500($8.83 USD) per bag. And rice was only 90 rupees ($0.32 USD) per kg and now is 240 rupees ($0.85 USD) per kg (2.2 lbs). In the same way, adding vegetables and sugar also became expensive. All our poor people have to eat is vegetables, grains, rice and flour. And all of this is getting out of the reach of the common man, the poor man is facing difficulties for all this."
The difficulties are similar all over the globe! We will continue to pray for all of our brothers and sisters in the world, but we've been given an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of this small community in Pakistan.
